The NBMBAA DFW Chapter is excited to build upon our success and elect the 2020-2021 Leadership Team. If you are an experienced leader and member, looking to drive the agenda of our organization, now is the time to lean in and step up! Elections of Chapter Officers will be held August 2019, with an effective start date of January 1, 2020. Election will be by majority of the membership votes cast for a candidate of each position on the ballot. The ballot will be sent to the membership via email in advance of the time prescribed for designated election.

Elected Officer Roles: 

  • President – chairperson of the board that presides at all regular and special meetings, and drives the vision for the chapter.
  • VP of Operations – member of the Executive Board, that acts as a strategic leader and thought-partner for the Strategic Partnership, Programming and Membership Committees.
  • VP of Administration – member of the Executive Board, that acts as a strategic leader and thought-partner for the Student Affairs, Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT), and Community Relations Committees
  • VP of Treasury – member of the Executive Board, that sets and guides our chapter finances and policies, accounts for all revenue and maintains an auditable record.
  • VP of Marketing – member of the Executive Board that manages and oversees distribution of all Chapter marketing, advertising and communications including newsletters, meeting notices, events, etc.
  • VP of Records – member of the Executive Board that spearheads the implementation and management of Board processes, protocol, and regular and special meetings.

Eligibility:
 
Any National Black MBA Association- Dallas – Fort Worth Chapter member in good standing may nominate anyone for consideration as a candidate for the election.  All Nominees must pass the following nominee selection process before their names are entered on a ballot.
All candidates must have been active with the Dallas – Fort Worth Chapter a minimum of one (1) year.
  1. In addition, candidates interested in the President or Vice President Administration / Vice President Operations positions must have served a minimum of one (1) term on the Dallas – Fort Worth Chapter executive committee or served a minimum of one (1) term on another Chapter of the NBMBAA.
  2. In addition, candidates interested in the Vice President Treasury position should have a Finance or Accounting background and a minimum two (2) years professional experience. He/She must also be able to be bonded.
  3. In additions, candidates interested in the Vice President Marketing position should have a Marketing background, and a minimum of four (4) years professional experience in Marketing communications and Strategy.

Candidates must be in good standing with the Chapter at the beginning of nominations and remain in good standing throughout the election process. No nominee will be added to the official ballot until their status with the Association and/or Chapter has been verified. If it is determined that the nominee is in good standing, then his or her nomination will be deemed valid. In the event a candidate feels that his or her eligibility has been unduly denied, he or she will be responsible for providing evidence of their membership status within one week of being notified that their nomination was withdrawn.  The candidate MUST contact the Chapter via phone or email.

Committees of the Executive Board
The Committee Chair Nominations will be reviewed by the newly elected President and Chapter Officers, with top candidates going through an interview process with 2-3 Chapter Officers. The President will then appoint the committee chairs and co-chairs with concurrence of a majority of the Executive Board.
 
Appointed Roles:
  • Programs Chair – responsible for leading the ideation and execution of all core programming across our pillars
  • Strategy Chair – responsible for leveraging data and NHQ direction to be a strategic thought-leader within chapter
  • Student Affairs Chair – responsible for facilitating connections between local colleges and universities, and our undergraduate/graduate membership
  • Leaders of Tomorrow Chair – responsible for managing our 8 month high-school mentorship program
  • Strategic Partnership Chair – responsible for facilitating connections between local corporations and our membership with talent acquisition opportunities and ERG collaborations
  • Dallas Membership Chair – responsible for growing and engaging membership within the Dallas metroplex
  • Fort Worth Membership Chair – responsible for growing and engaging membership within the Fort-Worth metroplex
  • Marketing Chair – responsible for building a team of graphic designers, social media managers, website managers, and photographers to support the communication of our events
  • Community Relations Chair – responsible for facilitating connections with our membership and the local communities in which we live and serve, primarily through volunteerism and philanthropy

  • I support the purpose and mission of the organization and pledge my commitment to assist in carrying out its work.
As an Executive Board member, I will consistently act responsibly and prudently. I understand my duties to include:
1.    Legal, fiscal and moral responsibility, along with my fellow Executive Board members, for the well-being of this organization. As such, it is my responsibility to:
  •  Be familiar with our budget and take an active part in the budget planning process.
  • Know and approve all policies and programs and oversee their implementation.
  • Take responsibility for making decisions on organization issues and board matters.
  •  Interpret the organization’s work and values to the community, represent the organization and serve as an ambassador.
  • Keep up-to-date on the business of the organization.
  • Excuse myself from discussions, decisions and votes where I may have a conflict of interest.
2.    Maintain attendance at 75% (9 out of 12) board meetings per year. Should I be unable to attend a meeting, I will, if needed, be available for telephone consultation.
3.    Active participation in one or more fundraising activities. This may include individual and/or special event solicitation or direct mail appeals.
